Douglas councillor denies child neglect

by isleofman.com 14th June 2016

Will appear again in August

A Douglas councillor has denied two charges of child neglect.

Fifty-one-year-old Catherine Rose Turner, of Westminster Terrace, pleaded not guilty when she appeared before Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas courthouse today.

Police were called to an address in Douglas on January 24 this year.

The prosecution told the court officers found her to be unsteady on her feet and struggling to speak.

She told them it was because of medication she was taking to try and combat her issues with alcohol.

Ms Turner's bail continues, with a pre-trial review due to take place on August 9.
