DHSC's plans for new nursing home

Bid for £8m to buy 68 beds in Douglas

Plans to purchase a new ?8.1 million home for the elderly in Douglas will go before Tynwald next week.

The Department of Health and Social Care is seeking parliamentary approval to purchase a newly-constructed property on Salisbury Street in the east of the capital.

It's part of a move to make nursing care more affordable on the Island.

If acqusition of the 68-bed property is approved, the DHSC says will run a tender process to facilitate its operation.
