Beach Buddies back in action this weekend

by isleofman.com 17th June 2016
Beach Buddies will be back in action again following the TT, with a volunteer session in the south of the Island at Brewery Bay on Sunday morning.

The meeting point is opposite the Shore Hotel in Brewery Bay, which has been incorrectly named Gansey Bay by many people for decades. One of the Beach Buddies supporters, a member of the lifeboat crew, has been encouraging the use of the accurate name of Brewery Bay and we are happy to oblige.

"Gansey Bay”, in fact, does not exist at all. Gansey Point is the rocky outcrop at the southern end of Brewery Bay, just before Chapel Beach, Port St Mary. OK - enough of the geography lesson!

This weekend’s Beach Buddies’ session will be at 10.30am on Sunday morning at Brewery Bay, with all equipment provided and new volunteers always welcome, including families and well behaved dogs. the sessions lasts no longer than 90 minutes. Items collected will be recycled afterwards at the Southern Civic Amenity Site.
