Vigil reaches out to LGBTI community

Symbolic event of unity

A candle vigil will be held in Peel cathedral on Sunday, to remember victims of the Orlando nightclub shootings a week ago.

The names of the 49 people who lost their lives in the atrocity will be read out and prayers said.

The event is the idea of cathedral intern Catherine Thubron, and organised jointly with the Manx Rainbow Association - which held an outdoor vigil in Douglas on Monday night.

It starts at 8pm and is open to all.

Catherine says it's a symbolic event to unite and comfort those who grieve:
