MHK wants referendum during general election

Motion put forward to see only elected members of Tynwald vote on finance legislation

Septembers General Election may also feature a referendum.

That's if a motion in this week's Tynwald is successful.

West Douglas MHK Chris Thomas is asking Tynwald to support his idea of giving the public a chance to vote on whether only elected members of Tynwald (other than the President) should vote on legislation and resolutions relating to finance.

Mr Thomas says Jersey has held a similar exercise - and it's much cheaper to piggy-back a referendum off an election
