Rushen Silver Band to hold joint concert with Alan Fernie

by isleofman.com 21st June 2016
Rushen Silver Band will be holding a joint concert with their training band, Ballafesson Brass, on Saturday 25th June at Rushen Primary School starting at 7.30pm.

Renowned composer/arranger Alan Fernie is making a return trip to the Island following his visit in July 2014 when he conducted the Band for the premiere of his commissioned work “An Island Journey”. Alan will be conducting both bands with both some old favourites and new items being part of the programme.

Tom Sinden, Chairman, Rushen Silver Band: “Following on from numerous different projects over the past few years, the Band Committee wanted something different again for both our training band and senior band, and another opportunity to continue to develop. We’ve been looking for a good opportunity to again combine both bands in a concert and having Alan on the Island has presented us with the chance to feature the two groups at the same time”.

“The Band is delighted and very appreciative that Alan is willing to journey again to the Island for what will be an interesting and useful few days with the band, which will include spending time carrying out some tuition on a one to one basis with players of all ability. The Band are grateful for the support received by the local community and are hoping to put on an enjoyable concert for all those able to attend”.

Tickets are available from the Band Secretary on tel. no. 493193 or via secretary@rushensilverband.org.im and are priced at ?6 (?3 for under 18). Tickets will also be available on the door.
