School memories through the generations

Ramsey remembers educational history

Year nine students at Ramsey Grammar School have spent the day questioning ex-pupils and teachers about classroom life in years gone by.

The youngsters are conducting one-to-one interviews with previous generations, as part of a special 'Tell Me' day to mark the institution's 70th anniversary.

Guests were asked to describe how they think the school has changed and developed over the years.

And former teachers were taken on a tour of the premises by their interviewer.

Among past pupils on the guest list are TT star Connor Cummins and former Ramsey MHK Anne Craine.

The interviews, which have been filmed, are to be used in a celebration later this year, to mark the opening of RGS in September 1946.

It's thought to be the first comprehensive school in the British Isles.
