Silence to mark 100th anniversary of Battle of the Somme

by isleofman.com 29th June 2016
The Cabinet Office has announced that the Isle of Man will join the United Kingdom in observing a two-minute silence at 7.28am on Friday 1 July to mark the 100th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme.

Fought in Northern France, the Battle of the Somme was one of the bloodiest of World War One and the end of the two-minute silence at 7.30am reflects the time that many men went over the top a century ago.
