The Island’s longest-running Celtic festival, Yn Chruinnaght, kicks off on Wednesday 13 July with a heady mix of trad tunes, songs and clogging from Welsh supergroup, Calan.
The five young musicians that make up Calan bring a fresh and vibrant sound to trad Welsh music. With a contemporary and lively approach they breathe new life into the old traditions through their sparkling melodies, foot-tapping tunes and spirited and energetic performances of Welsh step dancing. You’ll get to sample everything - from old favourite reels, jigs and hornpipes with fast-paced and uplifting arrangements to some of the most beautiful and haunting songs, with one of Wales’ most talented dancers showing off her steps on stage.
“Calan have it all. Energy, attitude, freshness, a sense of fun and above all, real talent.” (Frank Hennessy, BBC Radio Wales)
Calan will be performing at the Centenary Centre on Wednesday 13 July at 8pm.
