Isle of Man Flower Festival organisers are keen to see your photographs from this year’s event!
The indifferent weather did not deter visitors to the 19 venues taking part in this year’s festival. In fact, the dampness helped some of the displays to last a little longer!
There was also a lot of interest on social media, with visits to the festival’s Facebook page peaking at 2,500.
Many photographs have been posted on social media and the organisers are keen to see photographers submit their best efforts to the competition.
Photographers are permitted to submit up to four digital entries that illustrate the festival theme of Supporting Achievement. Any photographs featuring people must be accompanied by their written consent. Entries from people of all ages are welcome, but people under 18 are asked to include their date of birth. Organisers will announce the prize shortly, but promise it will be well worth winning.
The deadline to submit entries is August 1 and they should be sent to flowerfestim@gmail.com

At this year’s festival, many visitors commented on the imaginative displays that involved months of planning and preparation.
Displays ranged from a recreation of Rio’s Christ the Redeemer statue at Glen Maye Methodist Chapel – an Olympic twist on the Supporting Achievement theme – to a display celebrating the work of head teacher J. T. Whiksey at the Old Grammar School in Castletown. Events such as the Island Games and the Guild were also celebrated.
Judy Matthews, chairman of the organising committee, said: ‘We had a lot of very positive feedback and are delighted that the hard work of all the volunteers was appreciated.
‘Now we are looking forward to receiving entries to the photographic competition. There is still plenty of time to enter and we hope that we will match the high standard of previous years’ entries.’
