Microgaming is supporting the Taylorian production of Oliver! which takes to the Gaiety stage on 8th August 2016.
Based on the classic novel by Charles Dickens, Oliver!, with music and lyrics by Lionel Bart, is one of the best known British musicals of all time. Hit songs such as “Consider Yourself” and “As Long As He Needs Me” are combined with impressive period costumes and a striking stage design. Oliver! features a cast of 70 company performers, from the age of eight, including 25 young Manx actors. Directing the show is John Cumberlidge, working alongside Producer Matt James.
The stage production is being supported by Microgaming through its PlayItForward initiative. PlayItForward was established in November 2014 with the aim of changing the game for place and people, fusing the company’s extensive CSR work under one umbrella.
Claire Coleman, Head of Microgaming PlayItForward, commented: “Our work on the island encompasses sport, education, healthcare, charity work and now the arts! We are thrilled to be adding a new project to our CSR programme, supporting a group of highly-talented performers in the local production of Oliver! We have visited rehearsals and the performance is looking and sounding great. We can’t wait to see the show in a few weeks’ time!”
This year Taylorian Productions are celebrating their 10th anniversary - past hit performances include Phantom of the Opera, Sunset Blvd and Cats.
Matt James from Taylorian Productions, added: “Oliver! is a musical masterpiece which has delighted audiences around the world and we are thrilled Microgaming, through their PlayItForward initiative, have come on board to help make this happen. It is a very special year for us, marking our 10th anniversary with the ever-popular story of the boy who asked for more. Without the support of companies like Microgaming it simply wouldn’t be possible to stage theatrical productions on this scale and bring shows like this to the island. Tickets are on sale for Oliver! at the Gaiety Theatre from 8th to 20th August, with evening performances at 7.30pm (excluding Sunday 14th) and matinees on Saturday 13th and 20th at 2.30pm.
