“Gone to the Beach” – Ballasalla School visit to Port Erin

by isleofman.com 19th July 2016
All the staff and pupils of Ballasalla School were joined by friends and family for a whole school visit to Port Erin. Everybody enjoyed a ride on the Steam Train from Ballasalla Station to Port Erin, complete with buckets and spades. Disembarking at Port Erin station, pupils and staff made their way down to the beach for an afternoon of fun on the sand and a picnic. The Abbey Restaurant in Ballasalla kindly provided a picnic for all the pupils and scrummy strawberries were enjoyed by all. There were plenty of photo opportunities as pupils ate ice creams from Scoops, made sandcastles and paddled in the sea!

Headteacher, Jamie Cox said, “We did a whole school outing last year and this time we decided to try something different. It is a perfect opportunity to get everyone together, pupils, staff, family and friends, out and about enjoying our local environment.”

Pupil Ella Hirst, aged 7 said, “It was great because my mum was here and I made loads of sandcastles and went in the sea”

Parent Ruth Hogg commented: “It was a great day with perfect weather. It was lovely to see all the children having such a great time.”

Deputy Headteacher, Elizabeth Bankes-Jones said: “What a wonderful day in the sun! Great play and lovely food. A big thank you to all the children who were so well behaved.”
