Meet the RNLI volunteers of Ramsey lifeboat

Ramsey RNLI volunteers are inviting people to join them at the RNLI Shop this Wednesday (27th July, 10am - 11:30am) to learn how they can help save lives at sea this summer.

The Island’s RNLI high-street shop, which is located on Market Hill, is in desperate need for more volunteers to help run the retail asset.

This Wednesday (27 July), RNLI Visitor Experience Manager Julie Sanby will join lifeboat crew and Ramsey Shop volunteers as they invite the community to learn more about the various volunteering roles within the charity. The shop is a vital part of the RNLI charity’s fundraising efforts in Ramsey.

Julie Sanby, RNLI Visitors Experience Manager said:

‘The RNLI are lucky that we already have wonderful people volunteering their time to help run the charity’s shop at Ramsey. However for the shop to remain open we need more people to help run the lifesaving facility.’

Julie adds: 'An RNLI shop volunteer does so much more than take money over the counter – they are a special person who has decided they want to make a difference. Everyone has their own reasons for volunteering with the RNLI, be it loyalty to the charity, time on their hands, the opportunity to meet new people, a personal challenge or maybe putting valuable skills to good use. Whatever the reason anyone interested in helping to run the Ramsey shop will receive a very warm welcome.’

Ramsey RNLI all-weather lifeboat was launched eight times and rescued five people last year. All lifeboat launches depend on charitable giving and public support so that the volunteer lifeboat crew can continue saving lives at sea.
