Two local school children were in for a surprise on the last day of term, as Isle of Man Creamery presented them with a brand new bike and helmet.
Keira Minay from Braddan School and Isabella Burns from Peel Clothworkers, entered a competition the Creamery ran in conjunction with its sponsorship of Isle of Man Cyclefest in May. All primary school aged children were invited to enter the competition to design a poster which would help to promote the health benefits of milk, especially during and after exercise.
Hundreds of entries were received and after much thought and deliberation a panel of judges from the Creamery narrowed them down to just two winners, Isabella in the aged 4-7 category and Keira in the 8 – 11 years.
Keira and Isabella didn’t know they had won the competition until assembly on their last day of term when they were presented with their prizes! The girls were each given a bike and safety equipment.
Managing Director Findlay Macleod said: ‘It was a joy to be able to see the entries for the competition. They were all fantastic and we would like to thank the children that entered for their hard work. The two winning designs showed how important milk is as a healthy drink while still being really eye catching and colourful.
‘It was great to see so many children getting involved at Cyclefest this year and drinking their milk! I really hope that Keira and Isabella enjoy their summer holiday and spend lots of time riding their new bikes.’
