New member sought for Appointments Commission

Community spirited individuals who are interested in playing a part in Island life are being encouraged to apply for a position with the Appointments Commission.

The Council of Ministers is seeking to appoint a lay member to the Commission, which is the independent body responsible for appointing people to various tribunals and other organisations, for example the Employment Tribunal, Education Council and Work Permit Appeal Tribunal.

People from all backgrounds and walks of life are urged to apply to join the Appointments Commission in order to provide ideas and advice from different perspectives.

Applicants should have the ability to analyse and review complex issues, weigh up conflicting opinions and identify appropriate actions. An information pack providing further details of the knowledge and skills required is available at www.gov.im/public-appointments

Application forms can be completed and submitted electronically via the webpage. Printed versions of the information pack and application form can be obtained from the Cabinet Office, Government Office, Bucks Road, Douglas, IM1 3PN, tel: 01624 685711 or email publicappointments@gov.im

The closing date for receipt of applications is Tuesday, 30 August 2016 at 5pm.
