Improvements are in store at the Co-op on Christian Street in Ramsey, which will officially re-open on 26 August following a ?780,000 investment to transform the store and create a new shopping experience for the community.
The store has been redefined with a focus on fresh, healthy foods and essentials, and will offer an improved in-store bakery and hot food range. It will be one of the first stores on the Isle of Man to feature the Co-op’s iconic new blue clover-leaf branding.
The store will also highlight its Community Pioneer role, where a member of the food store team will work to foster involvement in community activities, helping to understand and develop solutions to meet community needs. The store has donated ?200 to the Isle of Man Council to fund community planting activity.
John Slevin, manager of Ramsey Christian Street’s Co-op, said: “We are thrilled to have made such a significant investment in Ramsey and delighted that we have a fantastic new food store with which to serve the community – it is an exciting time for the whole team.
“The Co-op is a community retailer, and we are committed to playing an active role in local life, embracing the area’s community spirit. The store will be a hub for the local community, and customers will be able to find out what is going on locally, and learn about how the Co-op can benefit local groups.”
Ramsey Christian Street Co-op is part of the Manx Co-operative Society, which remains independent, albeit affiliated with the Co-op Group. The Manx Co-operative Society has been trading on the Isle of Man since 1920.
