Isle of Man Post Office Awarded Certificate for BS 10008:2014

by isleofman.com 22nd August 2016

Integrated Mailing Solutions (IMS) specialist communications division of Isle of Man Post Office has strengthened its position in document scanning after achieving the BS 10008:2014 standard for Evidential Weight and Legal Admissibility of Electronic Information.

IMS has been working hard to achieve the accreditation over the last six months ensuring the necessary processes and systems required to achieve and maintain the standard have been implemented. Following a review undertaken with Alan Shipman from Group 5 Training, IMS is now pleased to announce its success as compliant.

For the legal industry and other business sectors considering the use of third party scanning services for their documents, certification to the BS I0008 standard, provides the highest level of digital information for submission as evidence in a court of law and provides peace of mind for outsourcing such a service.

The standard covers the implementation and operation of electronic information management systems, and the electronic transfer of information from one computer system to another. BS 10008 provides best practice for transferring electronic information between systems and migrating paper records to digital files. It also gives guidelines for managing the availability and accessibility of any records that could be required as legal evidence.

IMS General Manager Tony Randle, commented: “We are delighted to have our systems and processes assessed as compliant. This recognition enables IMS to work closely with its current and new clients to provide professional services and demonstrate that we can securely manage the availability and accessibility of any records that could be required as legal evidence. Having already attained ISO 27001, ISO 9001, BS 10008:2014 is a perfect addition to our portfolio"
