Call to park responsibly at Grandstand and Police HQ

by isleofman.com 30th August 2016

The police are issuing a reminder for drivers and riders to park properly in the area of the TT Grandstand and Police Headquarters.

Inspector Derek Flint said; “This year, we moved a major piece of our operational policing back to headquarters. In addition, a number of agencies have been working very closely with the organisers of the racing to make sure the paddock and grandstand areas are as safe as they can be, especially in the event of a major incident.

The maintenance of the routes that have been marked with No Waiting cones is an essential part of both the ability to respond to police calls in a hurry, and that safety plan. In addition, whereas we might show a bit of discretion elsewhere, the parking of motorcycles on the pavements won’t be tolerated, as this forces the large numbers of visitors on foot into the roadway.

Finally, the cones are placed out on the authority of a constable. People have been shuffling them along to create spaces for their own convenience. Again, this won’t be tolerated, and offenders can expect appropriate sanctions.”
