Local farmers spread the love for lamb!

by isleofman.com 5th September 2016

Autumn is the perfect time of year to enjoy lamb, with an abundance of locally produced meat available following a long summer enjoying the lush pastures on the Isle of Man. To celebrate everything that’s good about this tasty meat, the islands farmers have gathered together to launch Love Lamb Week!

The 1st to the 7th September will be dedicated to how versatile, delicious and easy to cook lamb is. “I want everyone to celebrate Love Lamb Week 2016 with us,” Allan Skillicorn, Chairman of Isle of Man Meats says.

To celebrate Love Lamb Week – Shoprite are selling our 2 star Great Taste award winning “Ellan Vannin Shoulder of Lamb” from Monday the 5th of September.

Allan continues “We are proud of the quality of our lambs reared here on the island and to be awarded at the first attempt a 2 star award for our lamb shoulders just proves how great our island lamb actually is as the judging is done with no regards to branding and packaging”

Love lamb week was launched in 2015 by Cumbrian farmer Rachel Lumley of @LoveBritishLamb, #LoveLambWeek 2016 should be a great success. Rachel says “I have been overwhelmed by the support from UK sheep farmers and the scope we have to get our message out to the general public.

With local events hosted by farmers themselves and involvement from butchers, local pubs and restaurants and many others, the week aims to highlight that September is peak season for homeproduced British lamb and help drive sales.
