The colour and imagination behind displays in the 2016 Isle of Man Flower Festival was captured by many entries in a photography contest.

Festival organisers once more had a tough task to choose the top three photographs submitted by those who took part in the contest that accompanies the event.

A total of 19 venues took part this year, on a theme of Supporting Achievement, giving photographers plenty to choose from.
In the end, the photographic competition judges opted for Annette Briercliffe’s picture at St Mary’s for the top prize of ?60 vouchers for Robinsons.

The judges could not split Emer Wiseman’s picture at Bride Methodist Church and Theresa Saxon’s image of a Kirk Braddan display, so they each received ?45 vouchers for Beautiful Blooms.

Judy Matthews, chairman of the Flower Festival organising committee, said: ‘Every year, it is always a difficult task for the judges to choose their favourite pictures.

‘This year was no exception and we all enjoyed looking through the different pictures. A big thank you to everyone who took part.’

Photographers were permitted to submit up to four digital entries that illustrate the festival theme of Supporting Achievement.
