Children around the Isle of Man will soon be able to get their hands on Manx Cancer Help’s new book – Manx Fairies Save Christmas; a whimsical story telling the tale of how fairies from the Island help Santa.
The 28-page book, which will raise vital funds to help cancer patients and their families, will be officially launched at Tynwald Mills in November as part of the department store’s Christmas celebrations. Katie Melua, a patron of Manx Cancer Help who has written the book’s foreword, recently visited the Island to meet sponsors and record a reading of the book, which will be shown at the launch event. The story has been beautifully brought to life with lovely illustrations by local artist Quinn Shipton who has worked with the charity before.
Tynwald Mills, Appleby, Callin Wild, Citywing, Equiom and Manx Petroleum have supported the charity with the publication of the book, alongside other local firms which have also donated towards the costs.
Manx Cancer Help’s fundraiser Kathryn Hodgson said: ‘The story follows the Manx Fairies as they are magically brought to life and travel to the North Pole to help Santa with his preparations for Christmas. The book comes with a soft fairy figure which watches over the child, reporting back to Santa if they are naughty or nice. It’s a reminder to children to be good.’
The book goes on sale in November at Tynwald Mills, main Shoprite stores across the Island, Lexicon Bookshops in Douglas and on the Ben my Chree.
The fairies will also have their own Facebook page and blog to report their many adventures travelling around the world working with Santa.
