Lieutenant Governor Address for UN Day

by isleofman.com 19th October 2016

His Excellency the Lieutenant Governor Sir Richard Gozney KCMG CVO will address members of the Island’s United Nations Association and their guests to mark UN Day next Monday, the 24th October.

The title of his address is “A Newcomer to the Isle of Man in a Low Growth World”.

24th October is the anniversary of when the United Nations came into being officially and has been celebrated as United Nations Day since 1948.

Events are taking place around the world “to help unite global citizens and promote the message of peace, development and human rights.” These include lighting buildings blue and the unveiling of an interactive sculpture in New York’s Central Park.

Sir Richard is following in the footsteps of the former Lieutenant Governor Adam Wood who also delivered an address the year of his arrival in 2011.

The address will be delivered at 7pm on Monday 24th at the Manx Museum, with reception from 6pm. Anyone interested to attend should contact the Chair on 415820 or iomuna@manx.net.
