Peel Charity Shop and the Rotary Club of Rushen & Western Mann get together to support the Haiti Hurricane Appeal

Thanks to a generous donation by the Peel Charity Shop, the Rotary Club of Rushen & Western Mann have put into action the delivery of 10 ShelterBoxes, responding to the urgent appeal for help to reach the people in Haiti who are worst affected by Hurricane Matthew, one of the most powerful Atlantic hurricanes in recent years.

The Rotary Club of Rushen & Western Mann has been an active supporter of the ShelterBox Charity for many years, providing emergency shelter and lifesaving supplies around the world for families who have lost everything. The people of Haiti require this support right now after the devastating effect of the Hurricane.

Each large ShelterBox is a disaster relief tent for an extended family and contains household essentials and much more, offering day to day living. The Rotary Club of Rushen & Western Mann has already sent one ShelterBox to Haiti but this donation from the Peel Charity Shop will mean many more families have the hope of survival.

Elaine Cain, Hon Treasurer of the Peel Charity Shop Commented “we donated similarly to the Nepal Disaster Appeal last year and are always pleased to be able to help these poor people affected by such horrific disaster”.

Geoff McCann, President of the Rotary Club of Rushen & Western Mann said in response “thank you to Peel Charity Shop for the donation, it means that the Rotary Club can again support the ShelterBox Charity and the people of Haiti when they need it most”.
