Home Affairs political delegations announced

Home Affairs Minister Bill Malarkey MHK announced on Wednesday the delegation of Department duties to his newly appointed political Members.

Mike Coleman MLC will retain responsibility for the Prison and Probation Service, having served in this role during the previous administration. Mr Coleman will be supported in his duties by Clare Bettison MHK.

The Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service will be the responsibility of Juan Turner MLC, while Dr Alex Allinson will have delegated authority for the Communications Division, which encompasses the Emergency Services Joint Control Room.

The Minister will retain responsibility for the Isle of Man Constabulary.

Mr Malarkey said: ‘I am pleased to welcome Miss Bettison, Dr Allinson and Mr Turner to the Department and to retain the services of Mr Coleman. They will bring a diversity of experience and fresh insight to the Department’s affairs and I look forward to working with them to deliver Government’s priorities.’

He added: ‘The Department of Home Affairs makes an important contribution to the quality of life we enjoy in the Isle of Man by providing a range of services that help people to feel safe, protected and secure. The Members and I will be working closely with officers to build on the progress achieved by the Department in recent years.’
