Ghosts, goblins, ghouls - even the odd costumed-canine - gathered on Douglas promenade on Sunday October 30 to take part in Manx charity Junior Achievement Isle of Man’s Monster Dash.
Monsters of all ages were challenged to dash along a 1.3km route from the Bottleneck car park to the war memorial and back, with opportunities along the way to fill their trick-or-treat bags with sweets from four candy stations, compete for the best or scariest costumes and collect a finisher’s Monster Dash medal.
The charity’s events and communication coordinator Alex Day said: ‘The Monster Dash proved a great hit, with people really entering into the spirit of the occasion and putting a lot of time and effort into their costumes. Once again the great Manx public - and their pets - showed their support for Junior Achievement. We’re very grateful to them and to our lead sponsor SmartHR, in particular to managing director Gail Yeowell for presenting the prizes.
‘
Thanks also goes to our other sponsors - Capital International, HSBC Bank and the Pickett family - for each sponsoring one of the four candy stations along the Monster Dash course. Stations included “Chilling Chocolate”, “Lurking Lollies”, “Scary Sherbet and Mallows” and “Menacing Mixed Sweets”.’
Money raised from the Monster Dash will help Junior Achievement to support 5,500 Manx students develop skills for the workplace.
