The Overtones: Back by popular demand

by isleofman.com 4th November 2016

Britain’s number one vocal harmony group, The Overtones, will be back performing live at the Villa Marina on Saturday March 18, 2017 in aid of Manx charity Junior Achievement.

Tickets for the show, which is being supported by Microgaming through its PlayItForward initiative, go on sale at the Villa Marina box office from early November at a cost of ?35 for tiered seating and ?39 for table seats.

Junior Achievement’s chief executive Sue Cook said: ‘It’s clear that the Manx public simply love The Overtones. This will be the fourth time the boys will have performed to help raise funds for our charity. Their last visit was in 2015; since then we’ve been inundated with calls and emails about when the boys would be coming back.’

Since landing a recording deal with Warner Music in the summer of 2010 the group have celebrated six consecutive top 10 UK Albums.  Their debut album ‘Good Ol’ Fashioned Love’ reached number four on the album chart. The release of their second album ‘Higher’ emulated that success, also hitting the top five, as did Saturday Night At The Movies, Sweet Soul Music and A Good Ol’ Fashioned Christmas. Combined, these albums have sold more than 1,000,000 copies and have seen them appear on TV shows from Dancing On Ice to John Bishop to BBC Breakfast.

The group have embarked on six consecutive sold-out UK theatre tours including multiple dates at the O2 Indigo and the London Palladium. Among their other appearances have been The Queen’s Jubilee, British Summer Time, the Henley Festival and the Cork Jazz Festival.

Claire Coleman, head of Microgaming PlayItForward, said: ‘When the opportunity came about to support Junior Achievement again, we couldn’t say no. This event is an exciting addition to our extensive PlayItForward programme, raising money for an excellent cause. And of course we can’t wait to see The Overtones in action in March!’

Money raised from the event will go towards supporting Junior Achievement’s work-readiness programmes in schools throughout the island.
