Unemployment falls for ninth consecutive month

Figures regarding the Island's labour market for the month of October 2016 have been released by Economic Affairs.

The number of unemployed stood at 552 (368 male/184 female) at the end of October which was a decrease of 222 persons compared to this time last year and a decrease of 40 persons compared to the previous month.

There were more movements off the unemployment register than onto it with 148 signing on and 188 leaving the register.

The rate of unemployment for the Island stands at 1.2%.

812 vacancies were notified to the Job Centre during the month.
