The University College Isle of Man (UCM) offers the Manx community a unique experience to study an increasingly wide range of vocational, further and higher education courses near to home. Qualifications as varied as sports diplomas, engineering and craft apprenticeships, A levels and Computer Science and Business Management degrees are all offered at UCM. Students can choose between subjects as diverse as Art and Design, Administration, Health and Social Care, Hairdressing, and Hospitality and Catering, all of which are offered in specialist teaching areas by experienced staff, many of whom have worked in industry and therefore have hands-on experience.
UCM is holding an Open Evening on Tuesday 29th November from 4.00 pm – 7.00 pm. Information and advice will be available on all the courses run by the College, including recreation and leisure classes and those designed for employers wishing to develop their workforce. Teaching staff will be on hand to answer questions about course content and to explain also the different modes of study: full time, part time, evenings for example.
UCM is proud of the extra-curricula offer it makes its students; as well as having a robust and active Student Association, the College also employs a Student Experience Officer who, with the Student President, will be present to discuss the many opportunities UCM students have to enhance their experience at UCM and gain further skills valued by employers. Members of the Student Services team will be available to give advice on completing applications, funding, childcare and any additional learning support questions people may have.
As well as demonstrations, displays and activities, there will be regular tours of the Homefield Road and William Kennish campuses.
Jo Pretty, Principal of UCM said, “I understand that applying to College is an important decision, whether you are a school leaver, if you’re considering taking a degree on Island, if you’re thinking about re-training for a new profession or even if you just want to join a leisure class. I hope that the Open Evening will give potential students and their families, the chance to find out more about what’s on offer at UCM and make an informed choice about their future. Most people are pleasantly surprised at what they find behind the scenes at UCM, I look forward to welcoming visitors and showing off our great facilities.”
We very much hope that you will be able to join us for the evening. Everyone welcome.
