Ramsey is set to sparkle this Saturday November 19 when the Christmas lights are switched on.
The ceremony is the festive focal point to an afternoon of family fun organised by Ramsey Chamber of Commerce in association with Ramsey Town Commissioners.
Entertainment in the town starts at 2pm, with Father Christmas, Pudsey Bear and ManxTroopers mingling among the crowds and judging of the BBC Children in Need appeal bauble competition taking place.
Then, at 4.30pm, the Christmas lights will be switched on from the Courthouse Gardens: a combined effort by Ramsey Town Commissioners’ chairman Andy Cowie, the Royal British Legion Ramsey Branch Poppy Princess Aalin Penketh, Father Christmas and Pudsey Bear.
The day also sees the start of the Ramsey Christmas Santa Trail with ?500 of vouchers redeemable in local shops to be won every Saturday from November 19 to December 17.
The Commissioners’ chairman Andy Cowie said: ‘The switching on of the Christmas lights embodies the great sense of community there is in the town. It’s great to see so many generous independent local businesses getting behind the event to create a really festive atmosphere that not only draws the crowds and brings a welcome boost for traders but also provides visibility for such a worthy cause as BBC’s Children in Need appeal.’
