Magician of Mann 2016

by isleofman.com 17th November 2016

The Magician of Mann for 2016 has been named as John Cain, who lives in Peel.  John won the title, and the Arthur Culpin Challenge Cup, at a crowded Centenary Centre on Friday, at the end of An Evening of Magic staged by the Magicians of Mann.  Also competing were Juan Corrin, Paul Martin, Fredrik Stromberg, Rosalie Beaumont, Nathan Hill, Keith Greenland, Michael Daniels and Chris Burns.  Judging the acts were Ray Harmer MHK, Joanne McLean and Zoe McAndry.  The 2015 Winner, Colin Boardman, entertained the full house with his show-stopping performance, as the judges totalled their scores.  Compere Mike Clague announced the worthy winner, who admitted later that he didn't like magic competitions!   Club member Lexi Watterson, who produced the exciting and entertaining show, said  "This is the second time that John has won, and on each occasion his act has been really magical.  His floating table is a wonderful piece of theatre."

The next magic show on the Island will be Finale, staged by the Young Magicians of Mann, on the afternoon of Sunday 4th December at the Youth Arts Centre in Kensington Road. It will be the last ever show by the young magicians, as the club is closing down at the end of 2016.  Organiser Mike Clague, who started the club 29 years ago, promises a magical and fun-filled afternoon for all ages.  Tickets cost ?7 and can be booked by phoning 878328.
