Public’s views sought on Island’s family planning and sexual health services

by isleofman.com 30th November 2016

A survey has been launched today by the Department of Health and Social Care seeking the public’s views on the Island’s services for family planning and sexual health.

Minister for Health and Social Care, Kate Beecroft MHK, said: “The topics of both family planning and sexual health remain embarrassing for some, but it is an important area of healthcare with a significant role to play in protecting and improving the health and wellbeing of our community.

“It is important to ensure that services to prevent and treat sexual health problems, as well as offer advice and education, meet the needs of our community.  Feedback from this survey will give us an insight to how well the Department is doing and enable us to review and if necessary adapt services, ensuring they are appropriate for the future.”

The survey, which is anonymous, should only take 5 - 10 minutes to complete and seeks feedback on a number of areas, such as how accessible services are with the current clinic times and venues, and how easy it is to find out information about services.  Everyone in the community – regardless of whether they have used the services – is invited and encouraged to offer their views and comments.

The public can take part online by visiting https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/VNTZRR6.  Anyone who requires more information or wishes to receive a paper copy of this survey should contact the Public Health Directorate, in confidence, by telephoning 642639 or emailing sexualhealth@gov.im.

The online survey will close at 4pm Monday 12 December.  A report outlining the findings and any recommendations will be published early in 2017.

Please note: the use of a modern, up to date web browser is recommended such as Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.  There can sometimes be technical difficulties if using the legacy web browser Microsoft Internet Explorer with Survey Monkey.
