New publication: The Wonders of Mann by Charles Guard

by isleofman.com 5th December 2016
Wonders of Mann is a new book from Culture Vannin, which brings together many mysterious and fascinating aspects of the Isle of Man in a lavishly illustrated 116 page softback book.

Using stunning photography, most of which has been specially commissioned for the book, Charles Guard explores the more unusual aspects of the Manx landscape including the hidden explosives factory at Cornaa, an old chemical works below Maughold Head, secret vaults and tunnels, unusual natural features, and remarkable man-made structures from the 10th to the 21st century.

From the Calf of Man to the Point of Ayre the photographs, many of which have been taken from drones, provide a completely new perspective on the buildings and the landscape of the Island.

All the photographs are accompanied by informative text which brings to life the stories behind these remarkable sites.

It’s the perfect present for Christmas, and is ideal for posting away to relatives and friends so that you can share something new about our wonderful Island.

The Wonders of Mann is available throughout December at a special launch price of ?11, which will revert to ?12 in the New Year.

It is available from all good book and museum shops, and from Culture Vannnin directly during office hours at Fairfield House, Main Road, St John’s, just opposite Tynwald Hill.
