by isleofman.com 9th December 2016
Creative professionals are being offered the opportunity to pitch for grant funding from the Isle of Man Arts Council.

The Arts Council will host an event at NOA Bakehouse on Thursday 9th February from 6pm at which those getting a creative business or project off the ground can present a case for funding.

There are eight places at the event and participants will give presentations lasting up to eight minutes to a panel from the Arts Council.

The three successful pitches will be awarded grants of ?1500, ?1000 and ?500.

Geoff Corkish MBE MLC, Chairman of the Arts Council, said the event formed part of a successful and inspiring programme of creative industries events begun last year.

Mr Corkish said: ‘We want to develop and encourage our creative industries and we see many people setting out in business or on a project who need that initial support to get off the ground and flourish.

‘We will target grants at the opportunities that hold most promise in terms of their contribution to our burgeoning creative industries.

‘The event will also provide those pitching with an opportunity to meet and seek advice from those who are working in our creative industries, contributing to our economy and making the Isle of Man a special place to be.’

To apply to pitch at the event, download an application form from www.iomarts.com, email iomartscouncil@gov.im or ring 01624 694598.

Applications must be submitted by Friday 6th January 2017. If the event is over-subscribed, unsuccessful applicants will be notified.
