Man charged with assault

At approximately 11.40pm on Saturday 17th December 2016 a male was seriously assaulted outside a property on Empress Drive, Douglas. Police can confirm that a 32 year old male from Douglas was arrested at the scene and he has been charged with assault. This male has appeared before the Deputy High Bailiff and has been remanded into custody. Another person also arrested at the scene has been released with no further proceedings.
 
Detective Sergeant 219 Nick Haxby said: “THIS HAS BEEN A VERY SERIOUS ASSAULT RESULTING IN SIGNIFICANT HEAD AND FACIAL INJUIRES FOR THE VICTIM INVOLVED.  THE VICTIM IS STILL RECEIVING TREATMENT AT HOSPITAL WHERE HE REMAINS IN A COMFORTABLE CONDITION.  AT THIS TIME THE MOTIVE FOR THE ASSAULT IS STILL UNKNOWN.  I NOW KNOW THAT THERE WERE TWO MALES AND A FEMALE AT THE SCENE ALONG WITH MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC IN THE AREA IMMEDIATELY BEFORE THIS ASSAULT AND I'M APPEALING DIRECTLY TO THEM TO CONTACT THE CID DEPARTMENT, AS THEIR INFORMATION IS VITAL IN PIECING TOGETHER WHY THIS ASSAULT TOOK PLACE.
