Locals recognised in The Queen's New Years's Honours List

Three locals have been recognised in Her Majesty The Queen’s New Year 2017 Honours List.

Mrs Olga Gray has been awarded a MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) for her services to the Manx Community. Mrs Gray is well known for her voluntary community services, participation in amateur theatre and fundraising. In particular, helping to raise in excess of ?1.5 million for local charity Breakthrough Breast Cancer Isle of Man.

Mr Phil Taubman has been awarded a MBE for his services to motorcycling and the Manx Community. He is Chairman of the Southern 100 Motorcycle Club and Clerk of the Course. When not involved in helping to promote the Southern 100 he is an active part of the Castletown community.

Mr Bill Dale has been awarded a BEM (British Empire Medal) for his services to the Manx marine environment. Bill set up local charity Beach Buddies and is passionate about raising awareness to the problem of marine rubbish.
