Corlett Bolton has donated the funds from a ‘swear box’ to charities close to the hearts of its employees.

Instead of accepting payment for the swearing of oaths on documents, the company donated the fees to its ‘swear box’. The ?300 raised has been donated to homeless charity Graih, based on Broadway in Douglas, and the DEC Yemen Crisis Appeal.

Sally Bolton, Director of Corlett Bolton, said: ‘The funds raised from our swear box give us a great opportunity to support local charities as well as being able to contribute to alleviating the effects of some devastating international crises.

‘We are fortunate to live on an island where most of us have a comfortable life but we must remember the people in our community, and further afield, who don’t have all that they need, especially at this time of year.’

Michael Manning, Co-ordinator at Graih, thanked the charity: ‘It is always such an encouragement to know that people in the wider community are thinking of the guys and offering us such support. It is your generosity that allows us to continue to offer a welcome to those on the margins of society.’

The firm of advocates also donated ?150 to the Manx Wildlife Trust after deciding to send an e-Christmas card for 2016 instead of traditional Christmas cards.
