Newfield donates more than ?10,000 to Isle of Man charity

by isleofman.com 4th January 2017

Newfield, the Isle of Man-based international eGaming company, has donated more than ?10,000 to the Hyperbaric Chamber.

After a year of fundraising the business presented ?10,261.36 to the Chamber, which was chosen by employees as Newfield’s Charity of the Year for 2016.

Money was raised at a series of events including Newfield’s Christmas party, a golf day for staff and guests and by an employee team which was sponsored to take on the gruelling Toughmann Challenge.

The donation will help the Hyperbaric Chamber continue its important work using hyperbaric oxygen therapy to treat conditions like decompression sickness and aid recovery from injury.

Newfield Director Mark Reynolds said: ‘Our company as a whole really admires the work the Hyperbaric Chamber does in aiding recovery and hope this contribution will go some way to provide the charity with the resources it needs to continue its endeavours.

A number of our employees have benefited from the treatment provided by the Hyperbaric Chamber and have experienced first-hand what great work the charity does. We have all enjoyed working with and raising money for the Hyperbaric Chamber throughout 2016 and wish the whole team all the best for the future.’

He added: ‘I’d like to thank all my colleagues at Newfield for the amazing efforts they have put into fundraising during 2016. Everyone has thrown themselves into every event, and many have gone the extra mile to take on personal challenges to raise money through sponsorship; it has been great to see the team spirit Newfield prides itself on in action.’

Funds raised by staff were supplemented by the company to arrive at the final total of more than ?10,000.

Hyperbaric Chamber Chairman David Downie said:  ‘Many thanks to Newfield; again their staff have given up their spare time to raise funds for the hyperbaric facility.

‘In the past 12 months they have raised a staggering ?10,000 towards the relocation and new hyperbaric unit with shiny new chambers and all the bells and whistles to provide a state-of-the-art service that will be able to cope with more than 200 patients a day.

‘The hyperbaric facility is a very small charity with a big impact on the Island’s community and relies upon support from individuals and companies that have the generous and philanthropic attitude displayed by Newfield. The team’s efforts on behalf of others is a great credit to them and the hyperbaric facility will ensure that this timely donation will go to good use to relieve pain, suffering and misery in our community.’

Newfield will shortly be announcing its Charity of the Year for 2017, a year in which it will continue delivering ambitious plans to grow the team at its recently expanded Douglas office. The company, which began operations in the Island almost five years ago, is keen to invest in the Isle of Man community not just through supporting charity, but also by creating more  employment opportunities.
Newfield is currently recruiting people with a strong mathematical background and a keen willingness to learn, and any interested in joining the Newfield team is encouraged to contact enquiries@newfield.co.im.
