Isle of Man Labour Market December 2016

In the latest report into the Isle of Man Labour Market for December 2016 the report highlighted a number of key facts.

During the month there were 579 people registered as unemployed. When compared with the figure for December 2015 there were 282 fewer people registered as unemployed.

There was a net increase of 6 persons onto the Unemployment Register during December. In total 99 persons signed onto the register while 93 persons left the register between November and December 2016.

As at December 2016 the Island's unemployment rate remained the same as it was in November, standing at 1.3% of the economically active population.

During the month 462 job vacancies were notified to the Job Centre. At the end of December 327 of those positions remained vacant. Of those vacancies 86% were full time while 14% were part time positions.

The registered unemployed figure of 579 is the lowest since December 2007.
