Congratulations are due to Beth Martin on her recent award of Silver under the Crossroads’ Care Tiered Award Scheme.
Beth said: ‘It has been very satisfying to move up from a bronze award to a silver award for Thie y Ribbeyder, one of Smeale Farm Cottages self-catering holiday choices. We have got involved with the Disabled Go and the National Accessibility Scheme in the past which both look at the physical aspects of the property. The Tiered Award Scheme makes you look at your business in a much broader way and is excellent preparation for the future Equality Act. It was useful at directing us to further small improvements we could consider to make life easier for our customers whatever their needs. For us, that makes it worth the effort involved.’
The Tiered Award Scheme is a voluntary quality award mark for businesses and service providers to sign up to. It is designed to encourage equality of access and disability smart thinking and is open to organisations committed to developing better outcomes that make a real difference for all customers and employees including those with disabilities. The scheme is designed to operate as a tiered system of self-assessment that can be undertaken by organisations within all sectors.
The award is completely free of charge and open to any business or organisation no matter how big or small.
If you are interested in the Award and would like more information please contact Crossroads Care's Access Office on 673103 or email tas@crossroadsiom.org , the Access office also offers online Disability Awareness training to local businesses and organisations.
