Hospice were delighted to co-partner with Isle of Man Post Office on their Christmas Tree recycling project this year. Just under 400 trees were collected by the Post Office team over Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th January with support from Sharon Connor at Hospice along with some staff and volunteers.
The trees were all placed in skips at Hospice for pick up and recycling to Ballaneven, Peel.
?4,000 was raised by this initiative. Events Manager, Sharon Connor would like to thank the wonderful team at Isle of Man Post Office, Richard at Ballaneven and Tel’s Skips for all their efforts for the local charity. 85p from every pound is spent directly on patient care so this amount of money being raised equates to over two weeks of care in Hospice’s In Patient Unit.
Sharon commented: “This initiative has grown over the three years we have been doing it so I would like to thank everyone that supported our charity in this way.”
“There is a lot of mapping and routing that goes on in the back ground which is why we need to stick to the closing date for registration.”
“This was made so much easier with the support of the team at IOM Post Office.”
“We are looking to do it again in 2018 and will announce details later this year.”
Noel Travis, Parcel Strategy & Operations Manager added: “It was a real challenge but also very enjoyable, working with people from throughout the Post Office and Hospice. I am proud of everyone who donated their valuable time to help a charity that touches so many people around the Island.”
