The Isle of Man Choral Society is pleased to announce that it has chosen Manx Wildlife Trust as its charity beneficiary. Each year the Choral Society selects a charity to benefit from its ticket sales, and 2017’s spring event at the Villa marina in Douglas will help our Manx wildlife for future generations.
Each year IOM Choral Society put on a stunning concert, and 2017 will be no different. As a community choir working with its members who are experienced musicians and singers, they felt there was an affinity with Manx Wildlife Trust whose members are key to its work and also their work with schools and local communities.
“The Isle of Man Choral Society is a community choir and is delighted that the proceeds of its concerts benefit the Manx community. This is made possible by the kind support of our sponsors, Tower Insurance.
Several members of the Choral Society and the Isle of Man Symphony Orchestra are also members of the Manx Wildlife Trust. Music and Nature raise the spirits! It is a pleasure to have the three organisations sharing the enjoyment of music and supporting the Trust’s work in promoting and maintaining what is special in the countryside and seas of our beautiful island.”
The 2nd April 2017 at 2:30pm will see the Choral Society work with IoM Symphony Orchestra at the Villa Marina, which is the only venue that can accommodate such a show! They will perform Mendelssohn’s HYMN OF PRAISE, John Rutter’s GLORIA and Mascagni’s EASTER HYMN from his opera Cavalleria Rusticana. This will be a unique event where magnificent choral music will lift off the roof to support invaluable work for wildlife on the Isle of Man.
Chief Executive, Tim Graham says, “We can’t be more amazed at the support from the Choral Society. We have many joint members, but it goes beyond that, as they really want to give back to the Island. It is a great example of the arts and environment working together, nature loves a chorus with the famous one being the dawn chorus of birdsong, so we think this event will be just as inspirational. “
