Ramsey Courthouse future use consultation

by isleofman.com 16th February 2017

Ramsey Town Commissioners have launched a consultation to give members of the public an opportunity to express their views as to future possible uses of the Courthouse.

At the meeting of Ramsey Town Commissioners held on 23rd November 2016 the Commission resolved that in the event of the Ramsey Courthouse being disposed of by Government the Commission would seek to acquire the Courthouse so that it remained in public ownership.

Ramsey Courthouse was identified, by members of the public, as the "heart of Ramsey" when a consultation was undertaken at the start of the Chief Ministers Town and Country Regeneration Scheme.   This resulted in the focus of the regeneration work in Ramsey being around the Courthouse.

Contributions to the consultation can be submitted via the following link:

The link can also be found on the Ramsey Town Commission website (www.ramsey.gov.im) and Facebook (facebook.com/ramseytowncommissioners) pages.

A paper version of the questionnaire can be picked up from the Library in Ramsey Town Hall.

Written submissions can also be made to Deputy Town Clerk, Ramsey Town Commissioners, Town Hall, Ramsey, IM8 1RT.

Mr Andrew Cowie J.P., Chairman of Ramsey Town Commissioners, commented:

“The Commissioners are keen to listen to the views and ideas of our residents and ratepayers to help us formulate plans to help further improve our town centre and build upon the growth and success we are benefiting from. The Courthouse building is a key location in the heart of our town and could help provide valuable facilities for the community for the future. We want to include input from the town in any proposals we may put forward and would be grateful for any productive comments and suggestions.”
