The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company is again supporting an educational show which will tour Isle of Man primary schools in March.

Lempen Puppet Theatre Company is making a return visit with The Golden Princess to perform at another eight primary schools following its successful trip last year. The Steam Packet Company is continuing its support by again assisting with the cost of travel.

The show is about a Princess, living in the Land of Rumours, who is trapped behind a golden mask. One day, a strange, one-legged musician appears playing beautiful music that has magical transformational power. The organisers explained that, in a modern context, this is a story about celebrity culture, being happy in yourself and not judging people by the way they look.

Daniel Lempen, who performs the show, said: ‘I am really pleased to be able to return to the Isle of Man and visit eight more primary schools with this production. It means many more children in the Island will have the chance to see it and I’d like to thank the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company for its ongoing support and assistance with the cost of travel for this tour.’

Steam Packet Company Chief Executive Mark Woodward added: ‘We are pleased to assist Lempen Puppet Theatre Company with its 11th visit to the Isle of Man.

‘Over the years the shows have aimed to address important topics in an entertaining but educational way to engage young children, and have always proved popular. It is important to encourage youngsters to take an interest in a wide range of issues, such as the subject matter of The Golden Princess, which is why we are pleased to continue our support.’

The Golden Princess will be performed at Scoill Phurt le Moirrey, Ballaugh, Rushen, Foxdale, Ashley Hill, Manor Park, Braddan and Laxey schools between 8th and 17th March.
