Safety Notice – Important Update on Hotpoint, Indesit and Creda Tumble Dryers

by isleofman.com 28th February 2017

The Isle of Man Office of Fair Trading is making the public aware of an important update issued in relation to specific models of Hotpoint, Indesit and Creda tumble dryers manufactured between April 2004 and September 2015.

In some rare cases, excess fluff can come into contact with the heating element and present a risk of fire.

Visit http://safety.hotpoint.eu to find out whether your tumble dryer is affected.

If you do not have access to a computer, you can contact the OFT directly if you think that you may have purchased one of the tumble dryers affected.

An extensive consumer outreach and service action plan has been activated and an engineer will visit you, free of charge, to modify your tumble dryer.

The OFT is aware of consumers in the Island who have already received a visit from an engineer and had their tumble dryers modified.  It is also aware of consumers in the Island who are still waiting for an engineer to visit them.

There is also the remote possibility that there may be consumers in the Island who may not yet be aware of this issue.

The following advice applies to consumers who have not yet received a visit from an engineer or were not aware of this issue until now.

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO – UPDATED ADVICE

IF YOUR TUMBLE DRYER IS AFFECTED BY THIS ISSUE THEN YOU SHOULD UNPLUG IT AND NOT USE IT AGAIN UNTIL THE MODIFICATION HAS TAKEN PLACE.
