Regeneration and community committee chairman Stephen Pitts said: ‘The council is delighted that the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company has agreed, once again, to be Douglas Carnival’s exclusive sponsor. We value most highly having the name and support of such a long-established Manx company associated with the carnival, one of the island’s highest profile community events. This generous sponsorship is an encouraging vote of confidence in the many people, not only officers and staff of the council but also those in the Island’s business and voluntary sectors, who work tirelessly to ensure the carnival’s success. We very much look forward to working with the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company over the coming months as we prepare for what will, I am sure, be a spectacular event on Sunday July 16.’

Isle of Man Steam Packet Company chief executive Mark Woodward said: ‘Douglas Carnival has gone from strength to strength since its revival and we are proud to have been part of the success of this fantastic community event. It was great fun last year, enjoyed by so many people, and we are delighted to be continuing our partnership with Douglas Borough Council in 2017 to help ensure the carnival continues to grow.’

The 2017 Douglas Carnival is on Sunday July 16, starting at 3.00pm.
