Office of Fair Trading release advice following Citywing liquidation

by isleofman.com 13th March 2017

This is an evolving situation, but the OFT would offer the following basic advice to customers of Citywing.

• If you have paid by credit card or debit card then, depending on your particular circumstances, you may be entitled to a refund – guidance on this can be found at http://www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/advice/how-do-i-use-chargeback#chargeback-vs-section-75 – make contact with your card provider as soon as possible

• Check your travel insurance – Citywing actually advises customers to take out travel insurance in its terms and conditions, as it is not covered by the Civil Aviation Authority’s ATOL protection scheme – although your travel insurance may cover events such as Citywing going into liquidation

• Monitor developments through media releases by Citywing or their appointed agent/liquidator, the Department of Infrastructure (IOM Airport) and the Civil Aviation Authority.

For further advice contact the OFT’s Consumer Advice Centre on 686500.
