Member queries inclusion of Maughold properties within northern housing list

by isleofman.com 22nd March 2017

Onchan MHK, Rob Callister, asked Ray Harmer, the Minister for Infrastructure, why Maughold has been placed in the northern housing waiting list?

In his response, Mr Harmer confirmed that "Garff Commissioners (formerly the Local Authorities of Laxey, Lonan and Maughold Commissioners) attended all meetings of the Northern Area Housing Steering Group since the first meeting in February 2016.

"In January 2017 the Board of Garff Commissioners met with the Housing Division of the Department of Infrastructure to discuss the principles of operation and project plan for delivery of a Northern combined shared housing waiting list.

"Following this discussion, in February, the Board formally resolved to support the principle of both Northern and Eastern shared housing waiting lists. The Board proposed that the Northern Waiting list would incorporate the Maughold area, which would include access to the public housing within the parish at The Corrany. The Department supports this decision and welcomes the contribution of Garff Commissioners in both the Northern and Eastern shared list initiatives."
