Public invited to sign up for GP app

by isleofman.com 23rd March 2017

Following on from strong public demand for enrolment to Patient Access, the free digital facility that allows people to view their own health information online, the Department of Health and Social Care has announced a further date and venue in the north of the Island for the sign-up campaign.

The new enrolment session will be on Saturday 25 March from 11.30am – 2.00pm at SureStrike Bowling Alley, in Ramsey.  It is in addition to the session tomorrow, 23 March, at the Sea Terminal in Douglas between 11:00 am and 1:30pm.

Staff from the Government’s Family Practitioners’ team will be there to help members of the public with the few simple steps required to sign up.

Once registered, users of Patient Access will be able to view, book and cancel any routine GP appointments, order repeat medications, see details of immunisations, prescribed medications and allergies as well as details of all their interactions with their GP, including appointments, symptoms and diagnoses.

Anyone who wishes to sign up for Patient Access - part of the Government’s wider Digital Strategy - will need to be over 16 years old and bring photographic ID (driving licence or passport) with them.

Full details of all the enrolment sessions around the Island can be found at www.gov.im/categories/health-and-wellbeing/.

Annmarie Cubbon, Head of Primary Care Commissioned Services, said she was pleased to see the campaign gathering this amount of public interest: “We have already passed the important milestone of 10% of the eligible population signing up for the service and I’m sure we are going to see a growing number people using the service as we move ahead.  It’s worth keeping an eye on the website as we will be adding more sessions if this demand continues as it has done.”
