Annual Road Show supported by Manx Telecom and LJ Partnership

by isleofman.com 29th March 2017

LJ Partnership, one of the original Corporate Members for Manx Wildlife Trust, and Manx Telecom, one of our newest Gold Members have come together to support the MWT Road Show by sponsoring the display boards that will travel around the Island. This valuable support enables Manx Wildlife Trust to continue its conservation of land, sea and fresh water environments on the Isle of Man.

MWT were successful in benefitting from one of Manx Telecom’s fantastic “It’s our Community Awards” which paid for half the cost of the display boards, while LJ Partnership generously agreed to donate the funds required to cover the other half.

LJ Partnership was established in 1990 on the Island, first as Skye Fiduciary, and later becoming known as CM Skye before rebranding to LJ Partnership, and first pledged their support to MWT in 1996 to become one of the first Corporate Members.  After attending a garden party in which potential Corporate Investors were invited to learn more about the work of MWT, the late Charles Cain, founder of CM Skye, signed up immediately as a member of the Corporate scheme.

LJ Partnership have continued to support MWT throughout the last 21 years by maintaining their Corporate membership and funding events such as a Murder Mystery Dinner in order to raise much needed funds in 2014.

Edward Cain, Partner and Vice Chairman of LJ Partnership commented: “As a long-standing member of the Island’s business community, LJ Partnership is delighted to be a Corporate Member of MWT and to support the MWT annual Road Show. MWT is a very important organisation leading nature conservation work in the Island, something which all of us at LJ Partnership are committed to supporting now and in the future.”

Manx Telecom, one of the largest employers on the Island, is passionate about the local community and environment and this is clearly evident in the funding they provide through their It’s Our Community Award scheme.  MWT have been successful in receiving the award twice, benefitting from donations totalling ?1,100.  In 2014, MT funded replacement equipment for MWT’s education programme, including nets and bug hunting containers.

MT boosted their support of MWT further by joining up to the Corporate Investors scheme as a Gold Member in January.  With health and wellbeing of their employees a big priority, the MT team are keen to utilise the Trust’s expertise in using the reserves and outdoor spaces for team building activities.  Another reason why MT is fast becoming the employer of choice for young professionals on the Isle of Man.

Speaking of their support for MWT, Gavin Smith, Marcomms Manager for Manx Telecom commented, “We’re very proud to support the excellent work of the Manx Wildlife Trust. This is a perfect example of how Manx Telecom works with community groups, by providing help such as grants from our It’s Our Community scheme, and initiatives like the Gold Investor In Wildlife scheme, to help enrich Island life. We are sure the road show will prove to be a great initiative and raise awareness of MWT’s work.”

The display boards will enable the road show to be easily erected and dismantled at each location and are large enough to house a whole host of information relating to the Seal Appeal and how to support the work of MWT.  The Road Show has been designed to help all ages learn more about these incredible and very important species that live around our Island.

The Road Show will be positioned in many prominent locations around the Island as it travels to a town near you between March and December.   If you would like to learn more about the different seal species around the Island, the best spots to view them and why they are important and need our protection, the Seal Appeal Road Show is a great place to start.   Please see below for a list of current dates; more dates and locations will be released as they become available.
