Isle of Man Commonwealth Games Association appoints new President

by isleofman.com 29th March 2017

The Isle of Man Commonwealth Games Association has announced the appointment of Basil Bielich as President. He was elected at the Association’s Annual General Meeting held on Thursday 23rd March 2017.

Basil succeeds Juliet Holt who has guided the association for the last 11 years. Juliet will remain involved with the Association, including helping to raise much-needed funds at the polo family fun day on 10th September.

Having been Vice President of the association for the last two years Basil is ideally placed to make the transition smooth.

Basil said: ‘It’s an honour to have been elected as the next President of the Association especially at such an exciting time as we approach the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia. There is a lot of work to be done ahead of the Games in April including important fundraising, travel arrangements and other administration in order to get the team to Australia.

‘I look forward working with all the sports associations to ensure that all athletes have the best opportunity to gain selection to a strong Team Isle of Man and to to be able to represent our nation on the International  sporting stage. Being able to guide the association as President is a real privilege.’
